Fifine K690 Sound Test
This is the Fifine K690 Sound Test. Do you have a USB microphone for your desk setup? It’s approaching two weeks since I uploaded my overview video on YouTube and since then I have used the Fifine K690 USB Microphone in another video title, “IKEA GERTON Table Top for Home Office Setup 2021” If your interested in this microphone, you can find this it somewhere between $94 and $99 on Amazon. As far as how I came across this microphone, Fifine was kind enough to send the microphone over in exchange for my thoughts.
Now I must say I’m not an audiophile, never claimed to be. But I want to be heard and sound good when you are listening to me. That is where the K690 comes into play. The Fifine K690 is a condenser USB Microphone that features four pick up patterns: Cardiod, Bidirectional, Omnidirectional, and Stereo. My favorite feature of this microphone is being able to quickly mute myself if I need to cough, sneeze, or whatever. Sometimes it’s the little things that matter. I appreciate the button turning red to let me know my microphone is muted. When I want to rejoin the conversation/content, I simply press the button to unmute myself and the light turns from red to green.
The second feature that I enjoy is the pick up pattern. For the most part, I’m probably going to stay in the cardiod pick up pattern simply because that makes sense for videos I make on YouTube. If I ever want to interview someone, I will switch it over to the bidirectional pattern.
Other features including plugging your headphone into the microphone to monitor the low latency audio. This will allow you to get a preview of how you sound prior to recording. Additional features include being able to turn up the gain of the microphone and adjusting the volume inside your headphones.
One of the things I should have done for my review/overview video is pick up a pop filter to catch the air from me pronouncing some words from hitting the mic. There are a few instances in the YouTube video where you, the listener, can hear the air from my speech hitting the microphone. While recording, I had a reminder in the back of my head to watch out for my P’s and B’s but sadly, my hot breath hit the mic a few times on pronunciations. What is my takeaway from this? Buy a pop-filter so you wont make the same mistake. The one that I purchased feels really sturdy and I appreciate how I can bend it to move in the direction I need it.
