Why are IKEA Alex Drawers Out of Stock?
Have you found yourself needing an IKEA furniture piece only to find out it’s out of stock with no time-table for availability? At that point, you probably asked yourself, “why are IKEA Alex drawers out of stock?”
Over and over again, members of the r/IKEA sub-reddit have asked about the inventory of the IKEA Alex drawer because of the burning desire to build a gaming or work from home desk setup.
Many of you out there must have reached out to IKEA A LOT because after browsing the IKEA website, I noticed they created a section to answer frequently asked inventory questions.
In the following video I put a lot of inventory and logistics issues into perspective for you the viewer.
In a rush? Here’s a transcript from the “Why are IKEA Alex Drawers out of Stock?” section:
So let's put everything in perspective. IKEA's products are designed in Europe and they are manufactured in 10 different countries if I'm not mistaken.
Plus the production facility that handles all the wood based products is located in Southern Poland.
Hold on let me read this because I don't want to mess it up. Their top 5 production countries are Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Portugal and Sweden. Top 5…and the United States isn't even in there!
So when you think about the "you know what virus" affecting everything, just think about the container vessels that were stuck at different docking stations and the ones we saw in California just sitting out there in the sea, not able to dock.
Then there weren't enough workers to unload everything. And there weren't enough truckers to transport stuff across America. Keep that in mind while we are sitting here frustrated. I know for myself, I had to put a lot of things into perspective.
