Newbold Wall Mounted Double Bathroom Vanity with Plastic Top Review

As discussed in my 6 Bathroom Renovation Tips NOBODY Tells You Youtube video, If you’re planning a remodel, I advise you to pick out a vanity that matches your style and elevates your bathroom. For this bathroom I decided to buy the Newbold 60'' Wall Mounted Double Bathroom Vanity with Plastic Top from Wayfair. After taxes and shipping (free) the total was $1,119.68

Since this bathroom only has 56 sq ft of walkable space, a floating vanity was a perfect choice for the following reasons:

  1. Reclaim the space under the sink for foot space freedom and tucking away an item i.e. foot soak tub from immediate view.

  2. It’s easier to clean the bathroom foor. The less corners introduced, the better.

  3. Aesthetics. It simply looks better to have interrupted tile.

  4. If you love ambient lighting, you can install light strips at the bottom!

What was my Buying Experience like from Wayfair?

My order was placed and received on Monday, June 19th, 2023, shipped out on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023 and delivered on Friday, July 7th, 2023. Note: my delivery took longer since I was out of state and scheduled delivery for when I returned (a nice option to have!) For the delivery, I was required to setup a time for the Inside Home Entrance Drop-Off.

The Negatives of the Newbold 60'' Wall Mounted Double Bathroom Vanity with Plastic Top

One thing I like to do before buying a product is surf through the reviews because they can alert you to concerns you wouldn’t think of. One thing that shouldn’t catch you buy surprise is plumbing. I’m almost 100% sure that you have to re-plumb your vanity area in the bathroom and this will not be a simple switch out with your existing vanity.

Since this is a plastic (acrylic) top, I would not recommend sitting curling irons, hair straighteners, or any other device that generates heat on this countertop. Remember, one of the factors that induces stress on plastics is temperature. A quick google result shows that acrylic starts to deform at 160 deg F and a curling iron reaches temperatures from 200 to 375 deg F. Be warned!

Another drawback that’s obvious from the listing in the lack of counter space. If you enjoy having several items within your reach and always out on the counter, this vanity isn’t for you.

Let’s talk about a case of false advertising? Take a look at the image below and what do you see? It looks like the drain valve is in the center, doesn’t it? Well, that’s incorrect. The drain valve is located on the left side of the sink.

If you take a look at the very last image on the product page, the correct placement of the drain valve magically shows up. What gives? Thankfully, I will never advise contractors to start plumbing work before the product arrives. If you do, you run the risk of having to re-do the plumbing.

The Positives of the Newbold 60'' Wall Mounted Double Bathroom Vanity with Plastic Top

Make no mistake about it, even though the top is acrylic, it is sold, heavy and feels very durable. I want to be clear that it does not feel cheap or flimsy. When you see reviews that say this countertop and vanity is beautiful, they aren’t lying.

The storage space in the vanity is just right. On one side of the cabinet you can store extra toilet paper, wet wipes, and cleaning supplies. On another side you can store mouthwash, tall lotion bottles, hair products, extra body wash and other items. Then use the 2 drawers to store your toothpaste, deodorant, and the rest of your skin care and oral care products. Realistically, this vanity has enough storage for all the items we use in our daily life.

One of the reasons I bought this vanity is because of the sloped down angle that reminded me of sinks in public bathrooms in New York City. Also, cleaning a sink like this is tremendously easier than a traditional bowl sink. After a spray and a few wipes, you’re done.

Should you buy the Newbold 60'' Wall Mounted Double Bathroom Vanity with Plastic Top?

Let’s say I’m a designer. If you asked me would I use this vanity again in another bathroom, my answer would be yes. If you are concerned about your curling iron or straightener burning or melting the countertop, don’t be, just buy a heat resistant pad.

Personally, I do not regret my choice. I love this vanity and I’m appreciative of the remodel team that installed this because it is not a one-person job whatsoever. With all that said, grab a vanity and float with me.
